# Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Bricksite Mail

# Enable Two-Factor Authentication.

We recommend activating two-factor authentication if you send sensitive personal data via email, or if you want to secure yourself against hackers. This means that you must have your phone on you when you log in. Two-Factor Authentication must be enabled independently for every unique email address.

1. Sign in to the [webmail](https://mail.hostedemail.com) as you normally would.

2. Select **Settings** > **Password** > **Two-Factor Authentication**.

3. The system provides the option to use an **Authenticator App** or receiving **text messages** with verification codes. We recommend the app solution as this is the safest option.

### Use Authenticator App

4. We recommend the **Microsoft Authenticator** ([iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-authenticator/id983156458) / [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.azure.authenticator)).

* Microsoft Authenticator backs up and synchronizes your keys between all your devices. You probably already have an authenticator app installed on your phone in relation to other online accounts or your work. Feel free to use the existing options on your phone, because we support all authenticator apps.

5. Go into the webmail and select the **Enable with Authenticator App** option.

6. Enter your current password.

7. On your phone in the chosen authenticator app select **Add Account**.

8. Scan the **QR Code** shown in the webmail with the authenticator app.

9. Type the confirmation code from the app into the webmail interface.

10. Press **Submit**.

11. You will be signed out and will be asked to sign in once more.

12. Done! Going forward you will be asked to open the app on your phone and enter the confirmation code every time you sign in.

### Receive Text Message

4. In the webmail select **Enable with SMS**.

5. Enter your current password.

6. Type your phone number in the following format: `011-countrycode-xxxxxxxx`, for example `011-45-12345678` and press **Submit**. We will send a text message to the entered phone number.

7. Type the confirmation code from the text message into the webmail interface.

8. Press **Submit**.

9. You will be signed out and will be asked to sign in once more.

10. Done! Going forward you will be asked to type the one-time code received on your phone every time you sign in.

# Disable Two-Factor Authentication.

1. Sign in to the [webmail](https://mail.hostedemail.com) as you normally would.

2. Select **Settings** > **Password** > **Two-Factor Authentication**.

3. Select **Disable**.

4. Enter your password.

5. Enter the one-time confirmation code from the Authenticator App or text message.

6. Press **Submit**.

7. Two-factor authentication is disabled and now only your password protects your account.
